道格（蒂姆·艾伦）、伍迪（约翰·屈伏塔）、鲍比（马丁·劳伦斯）、道德利（威廉·梅西），这四个人到中年的好友成日过着一成不变、枯燥乏味的城市生活，除了每周末“远”行到附近的饭馆聚会一次，几乎已经没有了任何有趣的消遣。乏味的生活快让他们窒息，于是，在伍迪的煽动下，四个死党决定趁自己骨头还没疏松，去实现年轻时的共同梦想--自驾旅行。
