“绿怪”史莱克的故事依然在延续。而这一次，爱人朋友却一个都不少。如愿和心爱的菲奥娜公主结成连理之后，史莱克终于能在众朋友的陪伴下在自己的沼泽丛林乐园里过着幸福的小日子了，然而等着他们的却是继承“遥远王国”的国王和王后之位的使命。别说懒散成性的史莱克了，就连曾经尊贵美丽的菲奥娜公主，也分外挂念沼泽地里的泥藻谷和自由广阔的生活
两人一心想离去，而病重的老国王哈罗德显然又无法继续操劳国事。双方在一番争吵之后终于想出了一个折衷的解决办法，由史莱克带着他的两个贴身好友，那只话痨一般的贫嘴驴和关键时刻玩可怜的靴子猫，一同去把即将从学校毕业的菲奥娜的堂弟亚蒂接回王国继承王位。而这个亚蒂小子乃是中学里的懒鬼学生，要说服他回国做正经事当国王，简直比太阳从西边出来还困难。还好，三个家伙的一番软磨硬泡下来，亚蒂终于同意成行。
四人的回国之旅终于开始，不过也是热闹非凡。先是史莱克发明了所谓的圆桌骑士，然后是贫嘴驴的灵魂一度爬上了穿靴猫的身上，颇为骑士的猫儿一度像驴先生那样语速奇快、出口成章，后来亚蒂居然把他自个儿的神剑赐给了贫嘴驴，而驴先生居然还变成了当初把剑送给亚蒂的“湖中女神”。与此同时，只身在王国陪伴父母的菲奥娜公主却显然遇到了不小的麻烦。她眼看着不甘心王位旁落他人的帅气的查明王子纠结了一帮邪恶的海盗，杀回遥远王国，计划掀起一场大叛乱，企图一举夺走王位。而已然深受丈夫史莱克影响的菲奥娜却不会轻易忍受邪恶来袭。和母后等一帮宫内女性们携手组织了一支妇女自救队，将王国里那些娇生惯养的公主们通通组织起来，练习武功等种种斗争技巧，坚持与查明王子的乌合之众抗争到底。而她的自救队中尽是些童话故事里知名的主儿，给前来进攻的叛军制造了无数麻烦。白雪公主、灰姑娘、睡美人、长发姑娘，连酒吧间女生男相的“老板娘”都加入进来，用她的“美色”成功诱惑了叛军的守卫。
最后，及时赶回王国的四人与王国内的妇女自救队成功汇合，与查明王子的反叛军展开了一场令人啼笑皆非的“生死”大决战……
2007 Shrek the Third :
Being king isn't for everyone - especially if you're a prickly ogre who smells like the shallow end of a swamp. When Shrek married Fiona, the last thing he wanted was to rule Far Far Away, but when his frog-in- law, King Harold, suddenly croaks, Shrek is quickly fitted for the crown. Now, unless the reluctant would-be king can find a suitable replacement, he'll be royally screwed for the rest of his days. As if Shrek didn't have enough on his plate, Princess Fiona has another little surprise on the way. With his head spinning and his belly in knots, Shrek sets off on a quest to find the only other possible heir to the throne, Fiona's long-lost cousin Artie, an underachieving medieval high schooler.
While the ogre is away, his old nemesis Prince Charming rears his handsome head and returns to the kingdom of Far Far Away with redemption on his shallow little mind. Even with Donkey and the ever-so-suave Puss In Boots by their side, it's going to take an ogre-sized effort - and a whole lot of help from Fiona and her band of princesses - for Shrek and Artie to save the day and find their own 'Happily Ever Afters.'

Joining the stellar voice cast are: Grammy(R) Award- winning singer and actor Justin Timberlake ('Alpha Dog') as Artie, the king-in-waiting; Eric Idle of Monty Python fame as Merlin the magician; the 'Saturday Night Live' trio Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph and alumni Cheri Oteri as Snow White, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty respectively; Amy Sedaris ('Strangers With Candy') as Cinderella; John Krasinski (TV's 'The Office') as Lancelot; Ian McShane ('Deadwood') as Captain Hook; and talk show hosts Larry King as the ugly stepsister Doris and Regis Philbin as Mabel, the other ugly stepsister. The computer-animated comedy was directed by Chris Miller and co-directed by Raman Hui, with Aron Warner producing, Andrew Adamson and John H. Williams executive producing and Denise Nolan Cascino co-producing. Jeffrey Price & Peter S. Seaman and Chris Miller & Aron Warner wrote the screenplay from a story by Andrew Adamson.
